Ryan, Deb, and Ron were part of the Aramco 75th Anniversary celebration which included the visit of King Abdullah and other GCC leaders including Bahrain’s King Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa and Oman’s Deputy Premier Fahd ibn Mahmoud Al-Saeed.
On the prvious day at the "dress rehersal" we perfomed for the Saudi oil minister, Ali Al-Naimi and Aramco president Abdullah S. Jum‘ah.
Ron, Ryan and Deb are scattered throughout these pictures. Ron and Ryan were part of the Ardah sword dance and Deb was a 1940's lady (prettiest one) for the historical recreation.
The event consisted of two parts: a historical recreation of the first Saudi King's visit to Aramco in 1947 (King Abdul Aziz ibn Abdur Rahman ibn Faisal al Saud - what a mouthful), along with community dance, speeches, music, etc.
Deb was part of the reenactment of the historical greeting and many of the ladies and children were dressed in 1940's clothing matching counterparts on large images of the actual 1947 event.
Ron and Ryan danced a traditional Bedouin style sword dance which is one of the Kings favorite traditions - and he joined us!
I told Ryan that this would be the closest he will ever get to a head of state - - - with a weapon!
The pictures in this gallery come from many people inlcuding pictures taken by Deb and Ron as well as pictures contributed by other performers and various official sources.
